HHNR Beyond Atlanta
Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches
December 23, 2019

In support of the Adopt a Family program, HHNR had the honor of meeting U.S. Navy Veteran Bennie J. today and presented him with a gift for him and his son. During our conversations with Bennie we found out that he is enrolled in College and will start his first semester on January 6th. Perfect gift for a new start and we’re sure his son will be happy as well.

HHNR’s Shining Star
December 18, 2019

I believe it when I hear children are our future. It’s heart breaking to see anyone living on the street, man, woman or child.  I enjoy what I do for the community, but it is always a treat when I visit hygiene drives hosted by local schools and the children.  I asked a group of 4th grade students to write personal letters for our homeless patrons on the street.  One young lady asked me to read the letter she wrote and I must say it brought me to tears!  HHNR would like to recognize Lake L. as our shining star!  Ladies and gentlemen, I promise you that you will feel the love and sincerity in her words below.  This is the type of compassion that cannot be taught, it has to be within! Way to go Lake!

 Dear Man or Woman,

I bless you with my heart because you are going through a lot right now and I hope you can continue to get through it.  You are being strong right now, and again, I bless you with all love, peace and kindness from anyone who comes across you.  Every time I see you on the street, I start to cry and I feel like giving you $100,000,000.  But I will get to the point. I want you to feel loved in this moment and thank you for reading my note.

Feeding the Homeless Project Volunteer of the Year

March 21, 2019

Feeding the Homeless Project Inc. have been serving the homeless community a hot breakfast over 9 years. In 2013 FTHP created a namesake award in my honor. This is something that most people experience after death or after a large donation. The is a perfect example of how non-profits can come together and celebrate the work they do in the community and beyond. Our collaboration is strong and continues to make a difference to those we serve.

This year I was honored to acknowledge two volunteers, Tim Farley and Jack Chapman whom exemplified what the award stands for: Dedication, Commitment and Compassion. I thank this organization for such a tremendous opportunity to add to my legacy and their commitment to the community.

Holcomb Bridge Middle School Field Trip

May 8, 2019

For the second straight year Mr. Glenn Johnson, his team and our Founder Donny Edwards took his 8th grade young men to the streets of Atlanta.  These young mean are being mentored in Mr. Johnson’s LEAP program (Lead Encourage Achieve Perform).  These young men put aside all personal attitudes and preconceived notions; they all worked together with one goal in mind…. helping those less fortunate.  They are gaining a great sense of community service from doing this activity; some suggested to our Founder Donny Edwards that they like to do it more regularly.  These young men are ready for high school and we thank them for the service to our homeless patrons.

Day of Service

Atlanta, Georgia January 20th, 2018

We encountered a patron named Kerry.  He came to us with only a pair of pants and a blanket on his person.  He was hesitant to receive our care for him in the beginning.  After speaking to him softly with compassion he allowed us to put a shirt on him and some socks because we were out of shoes.  After leaving him with food and clothing our hearts were still broken because after all we’ve done Kerry still doesn’t have a home.  This is why we’re so passionate about our new project Idara’s House.
